Hey guys, some of you may remember that i said in a past thread that i was thinking of joining my local team, well i've gone and done it.
I've signed for the Redditch Arrows as either a RT/LT or defensive lineman depending on where the coaches want me;) i'm loving the training but not the sunburn and i hope you guys can support your local BAFL teams which can be found on the BAFL website.

I played briefly at linebacker for the Lancashire Wolverines but broke my back.

I had played as a safety in my teens for the long since defunct Preston Pirates.

Good luck mate, enjoy it!!

Big props to you fella.  I played for a long time for Brighton 52's which then merged with the Crawley Raiders to create the Sussex Thunder.  I had many an injury playing the RB position but found it a hell of a lot of fun and enjoyed my time.

When I retired I then turned to coaching with the junior team and ended up as a RB coach for the GB squad, this also led me to bigger and better things with some colleges in the States.  Just 3 week stints to meet and greet and get my name banded around (no luck in the end) but ended up being written to by Jerry Jones and Raymond Berry who I had good relations with for many years.

Jerry used to send me signed Cowboys stuff (I burned some of it, lol) and Raymond used to send me all his coaching books and some very helpful tips from when he was coaching too.  Good times but a wife and family soon took up too much of my time and that was the end of that Sad

Have fun fella, the league is starting to grow in popularity again which is a great thing as it was in the wilderness for many a year.  I have to say that nothing beat my experience playing against San Francisco college in the late eighties when they were over here for an exhibition game against the B52's.  Yeah, we got absolutely killed but we had more support than Brighton and Hove Albion did for their division 1 match the day before. As much as I loathe and detest the Cowpats, if Jerry Jones took the time to send Gazzra stuff, he can't be all bad. Never thought I's say it but - gulp- em well do... nah, I can't say it. Damn.

Redditch Arrows, that is a blast from the past. They used to be in the same division as the club I played for in the late 80's. I think if memory serves me right the division consisted of  1) Redditch Arrows 2) Herts Phantoms 3) Wolverhampton Outlaws 4) Black Country Nailers and 5) Lincoln Bombers.

Mind you it was along time ago Cheesy

Great to see britball still being popular.

LOVED it back in the heyday of the late 80's, the league seemed very professional (Could still have been better), Budweiser was the big sponsor back then.

I played two years for the Thames Valley Chargers Jnrs (Flag football) and loved watching the adult team play.  Watched a few Bud Bowls (Ravens vs All Stars was a classic), Slough Silverbacks, London Olympians Chelmsford Cherokee, Flyde Falcons, Birmingham Bulls etc.

Trevor Carthy, Victor Ebubedike, Joe St Louis, Ron Roberts etc.  Some great names from those glory years.

Remember when the Birmingham Bulls got to the final but their star QB Russ Jensen refused to play just before kickoff (Think an argument about money).

Great years though.  Funny looking back at some of the players now, Lorenzo Walker (Herschels brother) played for the Spartans for a year when they had that all star side coached by Terry Smith.  But Sean Payton played for the Leicester Panthers at QB back in 1987 i think it was, amazing hes now the coach of the Saints !  But in the years 86-89 i loved Britball, had tons of great coverage in First Down back then.
