Perhaps not. But Chelsea looked massive favourites at the start, then self-destructed, leaving it clear for Utd to take unless they also self-destruct. The competition has not exactly been 'direct'. Especially when City were so easily disposed of by a Utd team well out of form, and then Chelsea, now too far off winning the title, are the only ones that beat Utd of the top 4.
The battle for who makes top 4 now also seems to be coming to an end with Spurs stuttering and Chelsea's 70mill+ investment starting to pay off.
All eyes at the bottom of the table (which is only really 3 or 4 points off the top half). Unless anyone really thinks the same Arsenal that ballsed up against Birmingham have it in them to outlast Utd.

The last couple of months will be interesting. Utd still have toplay Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.
City have Chelsea away and Spurs at home. I didn't think we'd make top 4 this year - could still do it. I'm more hpeful that we can win either the Europa Cup or FA Cup. We've Villa this evening andI have a bad feeling about the game. I think we'll lose 2 - 1. However if we can win we have Reading at home in the next round and that would be a great opportunity to get to the Semi Finals.

I thought City were top4 for sure at the start of this season. The squad depth is quite outstanding and for a little while I was beginning to think that, in the absence of CL responsibilities, you were going to challenge for the title.
Balotelli is an incredible talent, a total head case, but seriously good. He really does have everything, even a good football brain when he's not outraged at the opposition having the nerve to tackle him or give him a kick. I think he could start having the sort of impact Asprilla had for Newcastle and just ensure that top4 is secured + a trophy.

Next year we'll be title challengers. The goal Baloteli scored last night was brilliant. And I'm more than pleased with a 3 - 0 win especially as we didn't get out of 2nd gear

Yes I would agree. And if you aren't title challengers whoever is manager would have to be severely scrutinised for his performance. The difference between City and Utd now is only really experience, individually and as a team. You have a much better set of midfielders and a more varied set of attackers.
Chelsea will still have the best first XI and first alternatives, although they have to invest in some extra depth, not least because of the age of some of their best players. Barring some huge investment from Utd and Arsenal I can see them falling by the way side next season.

3 - 1 win for the Scousers - maybe the title race isn't just a 2 horse race. Maybe Chelsea and City still have a chance.

Maybe. Utd and Arsenal's average points per game this season are 2.1 and 2.0 and if they maintained this Utd would get 19 points from 27 and Arsenal would get 20 points from 30. That would leave them at 79 and 77 points each. Which would mean if City won all their remaining 9 fixtures they'd be at 80 points, but if Chelsea won all theirs they'd finish on 81. Obviously City play Chelsea later this month so that will likely decide which team has any chance at all of mounting a last ditch challenge. On this analysis Chelsea have the luxury of being able to afford a draw against Utd at Old Trafford and still potentially winning the league if they improve their GD in the intervening period.
