It should be an interesting test with a D that has their most inspirational leader back in the form of Brian Urlacher. The Raiders O line should be in for a much sterner test in this game.

Been typing notes throughout the game, sorry for the long waffle before but hopefully should help instead of just seeing the final stats....

First drive, two penalties.  On a big 3rd down a great screen pass to Michael Bush

Following play , nice play fake and a strike to Higgins

Next play a nice pass to Zach Miller, 3 good passes in a row now from Campbell

Michael Bush is running well, taking advantage of his chance

(For some reason i cant get the Raiders audio for this game so its only Bears, arrgh !)

Campbell completes another pass, great throw and catch to Louis Murphy to the 2.

I mean yeah its one drive but the passing game just seems so much more better than last year.  BUT as we shouldnt get negative about the low passing attack vs Dallas i suppose i shouldnt get super excited here.

1st down at the 2, Bush gets stopped, nice play by Chicago
2nd down Bush down at the 1 yard line
Reckon 3rd down will be a play action fake and Campbell will run it in !
I was wrong, QB sneak by Campbell, touchdown.  Considering the Raiders were facing a long 3rd down deep in the Bears territory it ended up a great drive.

Campbell 5a, 5c on that drive. Very good drive considering its against the Bears in their preseason opener against their starting defense.

On the kick return, nice hit by Ricky Brown, his helmet came off with that hit.

Now the defenses turn. (Aso isnt playing today , dont know why)

2nd down a great hit and sack by Tommy Kelly.

Big 3rd down by the Bears, come on d, lets have a nice 3 and out. Get in there. Kameron Wimberly with a nice sack !  Great start, he easily went past the Bears LT.

Yamon Figurs gets the start at KR and PR.

Shame Schilens, DHB and McFadden are out

Raiders drive, another play fake by Campbell, decent throw by Campbell but Murphy was out of bounds.  Think we'll see a lot of play fakes this year by Campbell.
2nd down great run by Bush, breaks through and breaks a tackle, 15 yard run. Nice block by Langston Walker to help create the hole

So far 6 first downs by Oakland, 0 by Chicago.

Rock Cartwright gets a hand off, tries to go wide but stopped for a loss.

Another 3rd down coming up. Shotgun, 3rd and 11. Incomplete to Miller.

Nice kick by Jano, 43 yard FG, 10-0 lead.  Great start. Against the Bears starters the offense just looks so different to last year. Yeah its early days and they werent the best last week but you can see this unit growing in confidence week by week. IF it all comes together we'll do well.

Bears now - damn Forte breaks through a whole and gets a first down.

3rd down, rookie Ware is playing at Aso's spot. Incomplete pass

Next drive by Oakland.

Bush a few yards on 1st down.  Nothing on 2nd down, couple of boring plays there just up the middle.
Shotgun on 3rd down. Nice strike to Murphy for the 1st down. Nice play, another WR was open as well, nice play by Hue

Lets have a pass on 1st down. Here it is, nice screen to FB Marcell Reese, nearly a td !  Long gain, 40 yards. The fans arent happy !  Do like Campbells play fakes.

40 seconds left in the 1Q, Raiders have been superb so far.

Damn, spoke too soon.  Campbell dropped back, pumped it but was under pressure so threw a deep pass to Miller but it was underthrown and picked off. Campbell threw it outside, Miller went inside, so might be a wrong route.

Defense again.

Forte breaks a big hole and runs all the way for a touchdown, god damn !
Raiders run defense could be a problem !  Was a nice td by Forte i hate to say, 89 yard td run.

Forte cut back and Huff couldnt stop him. Low snap again for Chicago (their LS is out) and theres no XP
Fair play to Tyvon Branch, he was sprinting trying to stop him, didnt have a chance but he didnt stop and got 'close' to him over taking Huff.

10-6 Raiders

Nice return by Cartwright and a penalty chipped onto it.  So good starting position for the Raiders.

Come on Oakland, lets get some points here. Another false start by Oakland, had one by Gallery earlier, now Henderson.

1st down Bush through the middle for 3.  End of 1Q

Very good quarter for Oakland bar two plays.

3rd & long Campbell could have ran for a chunk but threw it, incomplete.

TE Olsen got free of Branch but luckily the pass bounced off his hands.

3rd & 5 for Chicago. Deep pass to Hester.

McClain hasnt really done anything i've noticed.

Chicago moving the ball easily now, 3 plays 3 1st downs.

Houston had good pressure on Cutler but he scrambled for a first down.

We now hold Chicago, now its a FG to make it 10-9.  But another bad snap (3rd one from Desmond Clark) and the kicker has to try a crappy pass

Looks like Bush has done his work, Cartwright now in.

2nd down pass to Cartwright off his hands.  Chicago after the first two drives have applied a lot more pressure so Campbell couldnt go long and tried a shorter pass to Cartwright.

3rd down incomplete and we punt.

Two consecutive 3 and outs for Oakland after such an impressive start.

John Henderson now in at DT for Oakland, hopefully we can stop the run a bit better !

2nd down for Chicago, nice open field tackle by McClain on the TE.

3rd down, great rush by Wimbley. He reminds me of Burgess as he has great speed off the edge, yet again gets round the Bears LT , this time by 'ducking' under him as he tries to get blocked.  2 sacks for Wimbley.

On 3rd downs with Houston at one end and Wimbley the other it looks good.

We now have the ball, Cartwright gets nothing.  We have a lot of basic just go up the middle plays which dont seem great. Not too bad for Bush as hes a power runner but with Cartwright there its not a great play

Arrgh, Campbell with time, throws deep to Figurs but over thrown. Yet another play action

3rd down, come on Oakland, not another 3 and out. This time runs for it, a few inches short.  Could have dived for it but its preseason, he went out of bounds holding the ball out trying to get the 1st.  Looks like a 1st down and it is

At the moment rookie T Veldheer is in at LT. Bit of a coincidence but since hes been in at LT we havent moved the ball much.

Nice looking play this time on 1st down, double reverse to Murphy but doesnt really work, 4 yards only.

Cartwright stopped for a loss again, some of these running plays we look very poor. Be nice if we could run the ball well

Another 3rd down. Nice play by Campbell, avoided the rush, went to run but then threw across and hit Murphy in the middle. Murphy ties making a few more yards but gets stopped.

Raiders 5 of 8 on 3rd down so far.

1st down- another crappy run by Cartwright in the middle for nothing. The passing game looks good with some nice plays, the rushing game is dull as anything

2nd down, deep pass to Watkins near the end zone, just a bit too high.

Big 3rd down, nice bullet pass to Murphy but it went through his hands, Murphy at fault there as that was a nice pass.

Jano in for the FG. great kick, Raiders now up 13-6 with just over 4 minutes left.

Looks like the Bears and Raiders are having most of their starters playing the first half.

So far at the end of the day the Bears have had one huge play, Raiders have done okay on defense.  Lets have a good end to the first half.

Campbell has looked good, line has done 'okay' but we cant seem to run up the middle at all when Bush isnt there.

Cutler, 8a, 3c 36 yards with 3 sacks with 4 minutes left in the first half.   So great work by the Raiders, but on the other hand the Bears have ran the ball well.

Bears now on 2nd down. Chicago should have caught another but the ball bounced off the WR's hands.

3rd down - pass to Olsen but nice play by Wimbley to make sure he doesnt get the 1st down.  Bears 3 and out.

Considering Aso isnt playing Ware has done a good job, apart from one play the defense has played well.

Offensively i still think we need a veteran WR, without our starters DHB/Schilens the WR's havent done a ton.  But Schilens/DHB dont give me a ton of confidence specially as Schilens has missed the first two games and DHB one.

1st down, pressure on Campbell, gets it away to Miller, 3 players on him and he manages to squeeze for a few more yards for a 1st down.

C Satele gets injured, hopefully nothing serious.

God damn. With Satele out we have a new C, on the shotgun the snap was a bad one and Campbell cant get hold of it, Chicago recover on the dodgy Chris Morris snap.

Chicago, nice play by Trevor Scott to stop the run on 1st down of a 1 yard loss, 2 minute warning. 2nd down hand off to Hester, Scott on the tackle again for a few yards.

3rd down coming up. Nice breakup by Walter McFadden, incomplete. Nice to see a CB with #22 out there.

Bears going for it on 4th down (due to dodgy FG snapping)

Damn. Cutler was in the pocket, just avoiding the pressure and throws a deep pass to Knox for the touchdown.  Arrgh ! Nearly sacked him (Chris Cooper)

Bears go for 2 due to snap problems. Bears get the 2 and now lead 14-13

Frustrating as we had a bad snap, then on 4th down we blitzed, nearly got Cutler but he made us pay for that.

1:40 left, lets have one final drive by the starters and get some points.

Lets see what the 2 minute drill does. 1st play , run to Cartwright in the middle, hardly anything.

2nd down, blitz by Chicago, Velmeer gets owned and Campbell gets hit and fumbles, flag on the play though. Raiders recover the fumble.

Raiders get done for a chop block, 3rd down.

Was hoping to see some passes over the middle in our 2 minute drill.  Hope we throw on 3rd down and not some crappy dive up the middle.

From what i've seen Mario Henderson doesnt have to worry much !

3rd down a screen pass to Cartwright for only a few, punt time again.

With 1:13 left lets see if our defense can stop Chicago moving the ball downfield.

Nice punt by Lechler as always.

Dont know why Chris Johnson isnt playing, our CB's have done well considering our two starters are out.

Cutler sacked on first down, Wimbley involved yet again for a 3rd sack. Last week Houston had 2 sacks, this week Wimbley with 3.

2nd down deep pass to Olsen for a first down. Got some pressure on Cutler but he gets it away, Branch tackles Olsen.

Lets get an int lads !

Screen pass for the Bears, into Raiders territory. 18 seconds left no time outs, hail mary probably coming up soon but one more chance for a pass over the middle or a sideline pass.

Nice play by Mike Mitchell to break up the pass. 12 secs left.

Get in there, nice pressure by the Raiders and Wimbley gets his 4th sack and it helps end the first half.

Well first half...

Campbell started off very well, some nice plays, Bush was going up the middle getting a few yards (and broke one)

With Cartwright in (And rookie T Veldheer) we didnt do much, crappy runs up the middle for nothing.

The turnovers...

1st one - Campbell tried floating a pass to Miller, Miller went inside, pass went outside and was picked off.  Defense then were poor on that long run.

2nd one - With a new C in the shotgun snap was poor and the Bears recovered a fumble.

Overall the offense looked very good with most of our starters in, same for the defense bar one play. More importantly we didnt seem to have any major injuries, Satele was shaken up but i presume its not major. Still want to see McClain make a big play

Cutler with our 2nd string CB's in throughout the game only hit a few major passes.

First half stats

Oakland 11 first downs, Chicago 8

Oakland 165 yards passing (impressive), Chicago 62
Oakland 46 yards rushing, Chicago 141 (take off that 89 yarder and its not good)

Key - 2 turnovers by Oakland, points off turnovers 14 by Chicago.  We have 18 minutes possession, Chicago 12.

Anyway second half now with the backups...

Chicago have a rookie starting (presume theyve got QB injuries to their main backup)

1st down we stop Wolfe for a loss, 2nd down he breaks for a long gain but theres a hold thankfully.

3rd down over thrown deep pass, Bears to punt.

Higgins does nothing on the punt, dont think hes done anything with punt returns for over a season now.

Nice play fake by Boller on 1st down to the FB for 9 yards. 2nd down nothing up the middle.

Penalty on 3rd down, false start on the QB sneak. Arrgh. T Erik Pears (Think hes been crap for us, remember when he saw a bit of action last year, was dire)

3rd & 6 deep pass but overthrown and incomplete to Ford, punt time.

Get in there !  Chicago muff the punt, lots of fumbling about, ball goes into the endzone and Mike Mitchell recovers. Might be the 1 yard line. Nope its a touchdown !

Nice recovery by Mike Mitchell. Was a bit football follies like with all the scrambling for it and ball going over the place.

Nope it wasnt Mike Mitchell. Cant see who it was on the replay and they havent said. Seen the replay, its Slade Norris.

Weird seeing Thomas Howard with the backups, just a year or two ago he seemed a future Pro Bowler.

Stop two runs, now 3rd down for Chicago. Another run by Chicago, nice penetration by Chris Cooper to force the cutback by Wolfe, Shaugnessy wraps up the RB before he gets the 1st down.  Bears to punt

Bennett for a few. Nice pass by Boller to J.Ford for the 1st down. Weird seeing Ford wearing #12, keep thinking its DHB (But on the other hand the pass was caught Wink

Crappy run again for a loss, was up the middle but Bennett tried to avoid the tackle. All our runs up the middle bar one have been dire.

2nd down, Boller short pass to the FB Tonga.

3rd down. Pressure and Boller gets sandwiched. Punting time. Barnes is having a mare again, pushed the guy who had him built and he helps get the sack.

I mean Barnes started a ton of games for the Jags, Boller had 'moments' with the Ravens, you see them out there against backups and so far theyre poor as anything.

Bears with the ball, Cooper gets another tackle, made a few plays at DT (He used to be a DE didnt he ?)

Just watched William Joseph on the next play, doesnt do hardly anything. Anyway deep pass to Wolfe but Wolfe drops it.

3rd down coming up. Cooper with another play, broke free and pressured LeFevour who had to run to the side and get a yard or so.

Figurs catches the punt on the run but gets tackled instantly.  Be nice if we ever have a return longer than 5 yards.

Boller on first down to Michael Bennett who gets the first down, keeps moving after the first hit to get the 1st.

1st down, yet another crappy run up the middle for diddley-squat. Boller on 2nd down hits the TE Brandon Myers. Cutler being interviewed so just seeing the action without audio)

3rd down coming up. Lets get the first down lads. Boller in the shotgun, nice pass to Jacoby Ford for the 1st down.

More like it, Bennett up the middle and does some nice duking, gets about 6.  Think Bennett will make a good 3rd back for us - battling with Cartwright.

Up the middle again for a yard or so.

3rd down coming up. 3rd & 4 and we run it for 3, chains come out, was a first down, Raiders had a good spot there.

Yet another run up the middle, Bennett gets about 5, 4th straight run up the middle. Bennett again up the middle for about 4

Brings up 3rd & 1 at the 3 yard line.  Boller on the QB sneak and he gets the touchdown, refs say hes at the 1 (was a td).  Yep it is a touchdown.

Would have liked to have seen some different plays on that drive but i suppose its a touchdown.

Now up 27-14.  Some nice kickoffs by the Raiders backup kicker, obviously not sticking with us but making some good film for himself.

Ha ha unsportsmanlike conduct on the oakland bench !  15 yard penalty during that kickoff, weird !!!

1st down LeFevour runs but Howard has great speed and pushes him out of bounds.

End of the 3Q, Bears coming up with a 3rd down.

3rd down Bears go through the middle and get the 1st.

Big pass to the Bears TE for the first down.

Next play a nice pass to their other TE by about the 5 yard line.

1st & goal their HB was battling for a few yards, went sideways and from the back Cooper came round and hit him hard.  Great hit, surprised he didnt fumble.

Penalty on Chicago pushes them back, 2nd & goal a short run.  Big 3rd down coming up now.

Weird QB sneak on 3rd down for nothing (3rd and goal from the 11 !)

FG attempt for Chicago and its good - 27-17.

Raiders back with the ball, presume lots of hand-offs.  Would like to see some variety of plays.

Boller passing on first down, nice hit to TE Brandon Myers.

Bennett for a few on 1st down. 3rd and 4, Boller incomplete to the WR. Punt time.

DT John Henderson hasnt done anything.

3rd down for Chicago. Boy the games dull once these backups come in.

Stevie Brown on the interception, go son go !!  All the way to the 10 yard line. Desmond Bryant has a big hit on LeFevour to force the pass.

Brennan in at QB.  Handoff to Bennett.  2nd down another hand off for nothing.  Hope Colt gets a pass.

6:45 left in the game, 3rd down coming up. Brennan looks cool as he has a 'jim mcmahon' dark visor on.

3rd down, goes to pass, under pressure manages to escape and gets tackled for a 0 gain.  FG coming up.

Swayze Waters for the FG try, amusing name. Makes it and its 30-17

Bears with the ball. Not doing much, 3rd down coming up. Nice pressure by the Raiders but LeFevour managed to escape and throw it away.

Punt is blocked !  Great block by Norris but it goes out for the safety. Great game by Norris, fumble recovery for a touchdown and now another 2 points on the safety.  32-17

Nick Miller on the safety kick return, doesnt do much. Our return game has been poor in this game on kickoffs and punts.

4 minutes left, first down to Bennett.  Great run !  Arrgh.  Bennett a few years back would have taken it all the way, he went through the middle, dodged a tackle and then had a chance to go all the way but Bennett slowed and got caught at the 25 yard line.  44 yard run but could have been much more.

1st down - short run by Bennett, with 3 minutes left i cant see us throwing it again, shame , want to see Brennan throw a pass.

Nope here we go, pass to Ford by Brennan, incomplete, off his hands, flag on the play against Chicago. Seemed to be a bit of a 'weird' Bernie Kosar type throw.  Lets get another td to rub it in.

Bennett up the middle for a short loss. 2 minute warning.

Play fake by Brennan to his FB for the first down.  You can tell when Brennan is going to pass as he seems to bend differently behind the C.

Bennett to the 2 yard line. Come on its preseason, get the touchdown.

Play fake by Brennan i reckon and he'll run it in. Nope was wrong, Bennett for a short loss. Less than 40 seconds so i presume thats it.  Yep it is

We are going to the SuperBowl

ok ok; remember Art Shell team a few years ago during  pre-season; let not get too excited

Mate i never get excited by preseason.  I remember during the 1990 AFC Championship year we went 0-4 in preseason. We've done okay the last few years in preseason but crap in the regular season.

Anyway overall ...

Jason Campbell played well.  Take away two plays and we had a superb first half. The long touchdown run by Chicago was poor. The Bears went for it on 4th down (As they had their backup long snapper in (Desmond Clark) who had a nightmare) and got the touchdown.

The play calling 'at times' wasnt great when it came to running the ball, passing game was good (150 yards in a half) but the rushing game was very dull throughout the game. Bush broke one, as did Michael Bennett late on but 90% of runs was just up the middle for a yard or a yard loss.  Very dull.

Considering we didnt have Schilens/DHB its good Campbell threw for over 150 yards.  T Velmeer wont beat out Mario Henderson at all going by that performance today, Velmeer wasnt great.

Defensively theres still work to be done, McClain still hasnt made some amazing play. DT Chris Cooper as they say has a 'motor' and worked hard. LB Wimbley had a great game, you can see why Thomas Howard is a backup as we're starting Wimbley, McClain and Scott.  Houston didnt get a sack but did alright.

We didnt have Aso, Chris Johnson and Seymour playing so we did well.

The Bears were an 8-8 team last year (i think) and the first half we did very well against their starters apart from that int by Campbell and a poor snap by the backup C.

Was good to see, the first drive was superb. But my main issue were the constant crappy runs up the middle, the line did a decent job pass blocking (Think Campbell wasnt sacked, had the odd hit) but run blocking they were p!ss poor.

I want to see what McFadden can do but like Gradkowski its too late i reckon to win the starting job as McFadden might play mostly against backups.

Considering we were without a fair few players the team did well.  Its only preseason but thank god we didnt get any major injuries.  Nice to see us win.

Player of the game: Kameron Wimbley for sure - 4 sacks against the Bears starting offense.

That was a nice win in Chicago. Campbell did ok especially on the opening drive though I was less than enamored with the throw that led to the TD. Looks like we had some kind of pass rush sacking Cutler 5 times and the Bears QB 6 overall.

Michael Bush looks like an absolute beast.

psj - Bears were 7 - 9 last year and they will be worse this year. We did ok but I don't the Bears are a great team. They have plenty of holes - their o'line and secondary for starters.

The Bears may not be the force vthey once were, but who is? This win and some of the performances should provide some confidence that things are on track for a better season.

I totally agree, yeah its only preseason and all that but against the Bears starters we played well.

Some of the play calling wasnt great with those constant runs up the middle for 1 yard or a loss.  But Campbell looked far better than last week and at the end of the day we're missing a fair few starters.  Hendersons job at LT though for sure.

Michael Bush looks like an absolute beast.

Dont know about that.  He did alright against the Bears but for an 'absolute beast' i would want a long touchdown run and a few good runs.  Comfortable about him being our starter though
