Hey Gaz

My PS3 has stopped playing blu-ray discs games and films, is it worth getting it fixed and can you reccomend anyone to send it to.

Or should I buy another one or switch to the box

Thanks Anthony

Hello fella.

Sounds like the blu ray laser has gone up the swanny.  Is it coming up with cannot play disc?  or is the sound playing but no picture.  Also, is it a 60gb model as they have been known to go down pretty quickly.

My advice would be to contact Sony customer service (I still feel they are outstanding and getting problems sorted) and get them to price it for you for repair.  The last one I heard of, they chucked it away and gave them a new model.

On a side note, if you do have the available funds I would suggest also going with the 360 too.  Sainsbury's have been giving the buggers away this week for £150 for the 60gb model with the new Falcon chipset which doesn't red ring.  This way you have the best of both worlds as there are some amazing exclusive games on each format coming out over the next couple of months.

People say that the PS 3 is more powerful and it is in some areas but the 360 more than compensates in other areas and the only thing that let it down was the over heating problems that have now mainly been resolved.

If you are keeping the ps3 anyway I would really recommend Little Big Planet out on the 24th October.  I am on the beta for it and it is one of the most refreshing games I have experienced in the last decade of gaming.
